Pilgrim passport with stamps
Left Poets Hostel in Porto, walked past tower, then took 500 bus from outside train station with Jason, to Matosinhos.
Walked past harbour, to the beach area.
At a restaurant on the beachfront at Casa do Mar, near Lavra, on the way between Porto and Vila do Conde had lunch of Francesinha which is a roll with ham, steak, bacon, sausage, cheese, and egg, in a gravy. Rich and filling on a chilly day.
Then started walking along the boardwalk, going north. Path well maintained, suitable for bikes or walkers.
Footsore. Saw an old man go past with his sticks, so took mine out, much better. Walked on. The path stopped so walked on the beach, over rocks, until I reached the boardwalk again.
Lovely spring flowers along the path, bramble roses among the sour figs.
Small fishing village
Stopped at Vila Cha, went to Tony’s Bar, which is a pension, and slept for 3 hours. Sat in bar with coffee, then wine, then omelette. Problem – they do not take credit card!
In this fishing hamlet some people wash in the communal laundry tubs.
